June 21, 2003:
God has really blessed me since
our last reunion! About 7 years
ago now, the Lord led me to a
wonderful Christian woman.
We’ve been married a little over
5 years, and she is truly my
soul mate. Her name is Jan. We
do everything together and have
built a home in Bartlett.
Through the years, our children
grew up in school and church
together. We never thought some
day we would be a blended
family, but God had such
wonderful plans for us! I now
have a son, three daughters, and
two stepdaughters. We have two
grandsons, a three year old and
a one year old by my oldest
stepdaughter; my son and his
wife are expecting our first
granddaughter in late August.
I left Kingsbury in 1990 as assistant principal and went to
Richland Elementary as assistant
principal. I spent eight
wonderful years at Richland in
the White Station area of
Memphis. In 1999, I became
principal at Fayette Academy
(private school) in Somerville,
TN. In October 2002, after 34
years in education, I left the
field of education behind me,
and God led me to become Campus
Manager at Bellevue Baptist
Church. God is blessing in such
wonderful ways in this new
position.
I pray I’ll be receptive to His leading as He leads me into
this new era of my life. In
fact, each day as I pass the
three crosses at Bellevue, I
can’t help but give praises to
His Holy Name for what He has
been doing in my life!
January 24, 2008:
I can't believe it's been 45
years since we graduated
from high school. Where
have the years gone? I do
know I'm looking forward to
our reunion. It will be
good to see everyone again!
Through the years, God has
continued to bless me; I've
had my ups and downs, but He
has always been true to His
word. He has lifted me up
when I have cried out to
Him. Jan and I have had ten
wonderful plus years
together. This is one of
the blessings God has give
me; when we mess up Plan A,
God has Plan B. We do
almost everything together.
We cook together; we garden
together; we go to the lake
together; we enjoy the
outdoors together, and we
enjoy our grandchildren
together. What a wonderful
soul mate God has given me!
Our children and
stepchildren are scattered
the length of the state of
Tennessee. It's a long
state! My son and his wife
live in Germantown, and they
have two children.
(Caroline, age 4; and
Thomas, age 18 months) One
of my stepdaughters and her
husband live in Lakeland.
They also have two
children. (Austin, age 8;
and Hunter, age 6) We are
blessed to have all our
grandchildren so close!
Jan and I have jeeped
through the Colorado Rockies
twice, jeeped in Alaska,
landed on a snow covered
glacier, could have jumped
on the back of a 60 ton
humpback whale from a 20
foot jet boat, driven very
slowly and quietly through a
herd of about a thousand
buffalo, seen grizzly bears,
elk, moose, beaver, sea
lions, and spent eight
wonderful days in Cancun,
Mexico along with my younger
brother's family. We've
done all this in the last
eight years!
I also enjoy running and
weight training. About 7
years ago the doctor was
able to take me off blood
pressure medicine that I
had been on for 20 years.
Today, the running is just
like taking a blood pressure
pill, but it's a lot
cheaper!
I have also enjoyed working
at Bellevue Baptist Church
these past 5 years as Campus
Manager. There is
absolutely no doubt in our
minds, but that God placed
me here. It is a true
blessing! If you would like
to contact me, my email

June 21, 2003:
Cathey and I are
now in our 38th year
of marriage and have two
children. Our daughter, Kelly,
is a computer programmer for
FedEx, and our son, Scott, is
project manager for Woods
Electric, as well as owning an
internet service provider
company, Hawksweb.net. Both are
graduates of Christian Brothers
University. We have 4
grandchildren: Shelby, 9;
Brianna, 6; Cathey Marie, 3; and
Rodger Scott, 2. Needless to
say, they are our pride and joy,
and we are truly blessed to have
them live so close and be such a
big part of our lives. I am
still employed as service
manager at Dennis Electric, Inc.
where I have worked for over 35
years. I enjoy golf, camping,
fishing, hunting, photography,
genealogy, and spoiling my
grandkids.

April 29, 2008:
Cathey (White), Tech High
Class of 1967 and I will
celebrate our 42nd wedding
anniversary three days
before the 45th KHS-63
reunion. I retired
after 40 years as service
manager at Dennis Electric,
Inc. in January.
Cathey & I moved to a
double-wide in Hickory Withe
two years ago, and have just
recently completed building
our "retirement home" on the
property. We're
enjoying the country life
with two goats, a horse, a
toy poodle, & a
(Kawasaki) mule. Our
daughter, Kelly, graduates
with a masters degree in
computer
engineering this May from
Christian Brothers
University. She has been
with FedEx for several years
now. Our son, Scott, has his
own electrical contracting
business. We're fortunate
that both live within 10
miles of us.
I still enjoy golf, RV'ing, fishing, photography, genealogy,
and spoiling my grandkids.
My hunting has pretty much
been reduced to dove hunting
with my two brothers and my
son. We look forward
to seeing everyone at the
reunion.

June 21, 2003:
I no longer work
full time, but have a part-time
job working for an attorney. My
two children have blessed us
with 3 grandchildren. Kaitlyn
is 3; her sister, Keely is 1;
and our Will is 8 months old.
No one ever told me
grandchildren could be so much
fun. My parents and the rest of
my family still live in Memphis,
so we are in the Memphis area
often. When JB and I are not
playing with the grandchildren,
we enjoy golfing with our
friends and traveling.
May 28, 2008:
I'm sorry we can't be at the
reunion this year. JB had an
accident a couple of weeks ago
and fractured a vertebrae in his
back. At the present time he is
confined to the house, mainly to
stay in his recliner. His
prognosis is good - the fracture
should heal in about 8 weeks and
he will probably be back to
normal.
We are staying busy. JB retired from the Memphis Fire
Department in 1994. I still
work a couple of days a week.
We see our 3 grandchildren as
much as they will allow. Our
son lives in Bartlett, and our
daughter lives in Corinth, MS,
so we are not too far from
either.

Dennis and I are
very happy and blessed. We just
celebrated our 40th
anniversary. He still owns and
operates Progressive Adhesives
where our son, daughter, and
son-in-law work with him. All
of our children are married and
live close by. We have five
grandchildren. I stay busy
gardening, volunteering at MIFA,
Literacy Council, LeBonheur,
etc, and having fun with the
grand kids. We travel as much
as possible, which we both
enjoy.
April 26, 2008:
Not much has changed during
the past five years.
Dennis is still working at
Progressive with our son,
Keith, our daughter, Kelly,
and our son-in-law, Shawn.
The best thing that has
happened to us is another
granddaughter, Kenna, who is
now three. I enjoy
keeping her in the
afternoons while her Mom
tutors, and I still do some
volunteer work. We
still enjoy traveling and
have just returned from a
trip to Japan and China to
celebrate our 45th
Anniversary. Looking
forward to seeing everyone
at the reunion.

April 14, 2008:
My husband, John, and I will
celebrate our 43rd
wedding anniversary June 25,
2008. It seems like no time
at all and at the same time
forever. It is hard to
remember life without each
other. Our girls are all
grown and have families of
their own. Kim is married
to Darren Williams, DDS and
lives in Collierville. They
have two sons, Alex, 13 and
Zachary,10. Kristy is
married to Dr. Jonathan
Jeffords who is the senior
minister at St. John’s UMC.
They have three sons,
Andrew, 15, Christopher, 12
and Jack, 6. Kristy and
Johnny live in Germantown.
Katie is not married and is
in her 4th year
of medical school at UT
Memphis. Katie has a home
in mid-town. We are very
blessed to have all our
family here.
John and I are both retired sort of!! We still own three
college bookstores and
somehow still stay a little
involved in them. Kristy
now is in charge of all the
stores and that is one busy
job. Occasionally she calls
in the troops to help out
with special projects like
the latest one, the Final
Four. That was such fun and
so exciting. I work at the
stores only when she asks
me. I continue to work at
home and through email
almost daily. It keeps me
in the loop and also keeps
me out of the way!!
We still have our home in Sandestin and go there as often as
possible. We do spend a lot
of time there and usually do
not want to come back to our
home here in Memphis. We
spend a least a third of the
year there. If all our
girls did not live in the
Memphis area, we would move
to Sandestin. We love the
peace there and the nicer
weather.
As life goes on, we seem to enjoy the simple things more. I
personally have loved
getting together for lunch
or dinner with the KHS Girls
group. We have been meeting
for almost two years now and
it is such fun to just visit
and talk. Old times there
are not forgotten!!
|
|
Golf is our sport of
choice and while
John plays all the
time, I too play
when we are in
Florida. I say I
play, but “play” is
a generous term for
what I do. Still we
enjoy being together
and enjoying
nature.
John and I have been blessed far beyond anything either of us
could imagine. We
are thankful for the
years we have had
together, the good
times and even the
hard times. We know
without the hard
times, we could
never appreciate the
good times fully.
I look forward to seeing you at the reunion.

Sorry this is so late, but
we have battled cancer with
Nathan for this past year
and he just had his last
surgery about three weeks
ago. We were waiting to see
if he would be able to make
any of the reunion and I
talked to Nancy Graves
yesterday and she kindly and
lovingly said yes, yes. So
we will be on our way this
evening.
I am sending a few pictures of Nathan and me and the boys.
One of Nathan with our
youngest son, one of me with
our oldest son, and one of
Nathan and me at the
boardwalk in Shreveport,
Louisiana.
Our boys are 37 and 33 and they are great young men. A lot
has happened since the last
visit we had with you all,
as I am sure it has with
everyone. But the most
important is that we really
still have each other and
Nathan is the love of my
life, besides our boys. We
thank God everyday for
health, because Nathan and I
have both been through
cancer. We are hoping to
retire in the next couple of
years. We still live in
Texarkana, Texas.
Much Love, Nathan and

Since the last
reunion, several things have
changed. I have retired from
the Board of Education. I went
back to commercial ceilings and
have my own company, H & H
Interiors. I have two
grandsons. Daniel is 8 years
old and Austin is 6. Our
daughter, Lisa, works for Kroger
Management and our son, Brian,
custom designs homes. Still
dance on weekends and belong to
two Boys’ Clubs. In 1999, I was
inducted into the National
Boppers Hall of Fame in
Jacksonville, FL. In 2001, I
was told I had colon cancer.
Had surgery and chemo. Have
been cancer free since that
time. By the time we have this
reunion, Linda and I will have
been married 40 years. Life is
wonderful.

July 14, 2007:
I
started to Memphis State
immediately upon graduation to
get Freshman English behind me.
My intent? To become an English
teacher. Well, in February 1964
I eloped with my sweetheart,
Beverly Shumpert who graduated
from Overton High School the
prior year. Our plans were to
live on her $200/month
secretary's salary while I
finished college. Well, in June
1965 our daughter, Karen, was
born and the plans obviously
changed. I had to get a
full-time job, so with help from
my brother-in-law, Union
Planters Bank hired me as a
computer programmer trainee. I
LOVED IT and knew immediately
that I had found my calling.
I'm still in that field,
currently working for Ciber,
Inc. as a software consultant on
MLGW's Data Warehouse project.
Our son, Billy, was born in April 1969. Bev and I now have 3
fabulous grandsons, ages 16, 11
and 4. We have lived in
Bartlett for the past 27 years.
My hobbies include digital photography and working on our
family web site

June 2, 2008:
It seems so unreal that it
has been 45 years since we all
started on our road of life and
I look forward to seeing
everyone since I have not seen
anyone since the 25th
Reunion.
A lot has happened to us all since then – right after that
gathering I discovered I had
Breast Cancer and after several
years of up and downs, I have
now been cancer free for about
16 years. I was a volunteer for
the Reach To Recovery program
for the American Cancer Society
until a few years ago, which was
a very rewarding experience for
me as well as those I visited.
Ed and I married 20 years ago in September and we are going
to renew our vows this year. He
is the best thing that ever
happened to me in my life. He
and I both work in the Interior
Design field so we have a lot in
common and work together well.
He is a gourmet cook and has
taught me to enjoy food so
indeed I have changed sizes
through the years.
I have not been blessed with
children but I have handled this
loss by being the best aunt,
niece, and stepmother that I can
be. My husband has two grown
children who both live in
Millington. We have two
grandchildren; Tracie going to
Nursing School and Blake who
just graduated last year and is
now finding the road he wants to
take. Both are wonderful young
people.
My sister and two aunts still live in my neighborhood – I
actually live in the house where
we lived when we were going to
Kingsbury – so it is indeed home
to us. My brother and his
family live but a short distance
away so our family times
together are blessed and loved.
Looking forward to seeing everyone, Linda King Spears

I think of you all often. Most particularly since I live
around the corner from
Kingsbury. My three
children (all graduates of

oldest, Sarah, is a teacher and

My oldest son, Jeffrey, is a Fed

children from eight years as a
missionary in the Middle East.
My youngest son, John films
events, etc. Both of my
stepsons, Kirk and Johnny, are

and have families. Dale
Lock and I were married 29 years
when he passed away.
One of the highlights of my working career was being a
secretary with the U. S. Postal
Service 28 years when my job was
abolished. Fortunately they
offered early outs to us.
My best wishes to you all. Perhaps if we make it to the next
