Hi! Boys and Girls. Well, I am still alive and kicking.
Last time I saw you guys Frankie
and I were living and working in
Gulfport, Ms. About three years
ago Katrina moved us to Destin,
FL. Frankie is a little younger
than I, and she found a job over
here she likes. I just retired.
We live at 100 Seascape Drive,
Unit 85A Miramar Beach, FL.
32550 about 2 blocks from the
nicest beach I ever saw. I
spend a lot of time at the
beach.
I had a light heart attack this past Xmas. I'm doing OK but
my doctor doesn't want me making
any trips yet. So I won't be
able to come see you guys this
time. Have a great time!

Well,
I have been retired for around 5
years from Federal Express after
25 years. What a wonderful
opportunity I had. Traveled
many places and enjoyed every
second of it. I now play golf,
bowl, play bridge, garden and
travel a lot. It seems I am
never at home. I am blessed by
a wonderful husband of near 35
years and two terrific
children. I currently have no
grandchildren but hopefully that
will come sometime soon. Hope
all of you have a great time at
the reunion. I am unsure as to
whether we will be able to
attend. Life is good.

June 21, 2007:
Forty-five years?! I’d say that’s impossible…except for
the fact that I am the mother of
three grown children. My oldest
son is a missionary doctor in
Cusco, Peru. He and his wife
are the parents of two
daughters, 7 and 5. My daughter
and her husband live in Iowa,
and have one son, 9, and two
daughters, 7 and 4. My youngest
son and his wife were just
married last October and live in
Chicago. I’m so thankful that
each of my children is healthy,
happy and successful. I am
especially blessed to have five
wonderful grandchildren who make
my heart sing!
I’ve learned that the heart is an amazing thing these past
few years…I was married to
Bill Allen (Treadwell ’62) for
almost 39 years, when – sadly -
it ended in divorce. A few
months after the divorce, Bill
died of a massive coronary. I
moved to Iowa to be closer to
two of my children and continued
working as a Registered Nurse.
Thankfully, God gave me the
strength to take one day at the
time, and meant it when He said,
“My grace is sufficient for
you”. While I wasn’t sure my
heart would ever feel true joy
again, God had a plan – on March
17, 2007, in a Scottish wedding
in Iowa (complete with
bagpipes!), I married Jim
Campbell. His wife of 33 years
had died of cancer two years
ago. It was a beautiful
ceremony with my two sons giving
me away…his two daughters giving
him away…my daughter as Matron
of Honor and all five of my
grandchildren in the wedding.
I now live on a tree farm on the
Callahan Mountain range in
western Oregon. The scenery is
absolutely breathtaking…and
there is a lot of laughter in
our home.

Hi, 1963 Classmates! I had high hopes and a plane ticket

unfortunately it didn't work out

We'll all have to do our best to

After that very
exciting day when we all
graduated from Kingsbury, I
enrolled in college and
continued and continued and
continued until finally earning
a Ph.D. I began my career
teaching in college. Even
though I now work for the
government, I still teach (would
you believe Government
Regulations i.e. OSHA.) In
1999, I was voted by my students
“Outstanding Teacher of the
Year.” I was excited about that
since government regulations is
one of the more “interesting”
academic subject matter taught
in college! With the
government, I write safety and
training manuals. Also, I do a
large amount of consulting with
private businesses and as well
as auditing companies for OSHA
violations.
I am still married to my 1st wife. We have one
offspring, and unlike most of
you I am not old enough to have
any grandchildren yet. |

After about 45 years, I

an English Springer who moved
back to Memphis with us.
And finally, a beautiful Golden

June 21, 2003:
The past ten years have brought
about many changes, mostly
good. Our three sons are now
grown and on their own (thank
goodness). We are blessed to
have all three living in the
Memphis area. Our oldest son,
Brad, age 32, works for the
Department of Revenue and is
single. Kevin, 31, is working
with his father in the printing
business and is married to
Laurie Brimm, the daughter of
’62 KHS alumni, Jimmy Brimm.
Our youngest son, Tim, 26, is a
CPA and works for Mid-America
Apartment Communities. He is
engaged to Ashley Wilson of
Collierville and will be getting
married July 26. This is a big
year for us—of course the
reunion, the wedding, and
October 31 I will become a
grandmother. We’ve just found
out it’s a boy! I am looking
forward to all of it.
My husband, Bill, started
his own printing distributorship
in 1999 and works out of the
house, along with our son,
Kevin, so I never get lonely!
For relaxation, when we can get
away, we enjoy going to
Pickwick. It’s hard to believe
it’s been 40 years.
April 29, 2008:
The past five years have been
happy, rewarding, and
challenging. We have had 3
additions to our family.
Tim, our youngest son, married
soon after our last reunion and
we have a wonderful
daughter-in-law, Ashley Wilson.
Kevin and Laurie gave us two
beautiful grandchildren, Luke
who is 4 and Callie, 21 months.
I finally got my little girl and
oh how I’ve enjoyed her! I keep
them 2 days a week. At the end
of those 2 days, I feel every
bit my age of 62 (plus a few
more years!). I wouldn’t trade
my time with them for anything
and feel so blessed to have my
family close by. I have 1
single son, Brad, but (as most
mothers wish) maybe the next 5
years will bring me another
daughter-in-law! Bill is still
working hard but hopes to retire
within the next few years.
I have enjoyed meeting monthly with the “KHS girls”. Those
of you who haven’t participated,
please join us. I am looking
forward to seeing all of you at
the reunion.

eighteen. Isn’t it wonderful

both enjoy.

A lot of things
have changed since we were all

1994. It was a bi-vocational
position. I am still there and
am in my 10th year.
The church is Wisetown Baptist

2000 due to the progression of
an eye disease called retinitis
pigmentosa. I am now legally
blind, but use all the tools

a 32-year career in pharmacy and
am now enjoying a second career

forward to seeing all of you

seven grandchildren and they
also keep us busy. Tammie and

Jacob is 17 and will be a senior

are 12 year old twins and will

April 20, 2008:
Since I left Memphis for college the fall after graduation, I
have basically only returned to
Memphis for visits. However,
during the college summers and
holiday periods, Martha Dee
Lynch did arrange for a blind
date for me with one of her
friends at Southwestern (now
Rhodes) - which turned out very
well. Charlotte became my wife
and Martha Dee and Keith White
have continued to be very close
friends for both of us.
Getting married right after graduation from UT (Go Big Orange
and Go Vols is in my blood), I
took a job in St. Louis and
eventually stayed there for 30
years. We raised our two
children there, Kathy and
Gregory and they retained a lot
of the Tennessee connection with
our trips back to Memphis and
they also both ended up going
back to Tennessee for their
college (Rhodes and
Vanderbilt). They both spent a
year abroad and then returned to
home, so Charlotte and I were
ultimately the ones who
eventually moved out as I took a
new job in Connecticut and they
remained in St. Louis. So St.
Louis is another place where we
periodically visit now in
addition to Memphis.
I have remained in the aerospace field through all these
years with my latest job working
on an Australian helicopter
program which required me to be
in Australia about 25 times over
the last ten years. So I have
become quite familiar with the
country and “G’Day Mates” and
other Australian phrases – even
though my Southern accent just
does not have the right type of
sound. I actually retired once
when I left St. Louis, but have
not moved to the next phase of
stopping work completely, but
certainly am looking forward to
that time. In between the times
of working and raising a family,
I earned a couple of more
degrees (Masters in Engineering
and then an Executive MBA), and
have kept involved in our church
activities and the Boy Scouts
(continue to run across Doyle
Silliman at National BSA
events).
Charlotte and I did make a couple of the earlier reunions,
but since it has been a “quarter
of a century” now since the last
one we attended, I am looking
forward to reacquainting with my
classmates from KHS – just be
sure there are name tags so my
memory can have a chance.
P.S. Shirley Holcomb mentioned in one of the past KHS
memories the Halloween party at
my house where she came in
costume as a witch. I
subsequently located a 8mm movie
clip from that party that showed
Shirley in her outfit. After
sending her a digital file of
this moment in history, she
informed me that she actually
still has the costume she wore
at the party!!

Our
son, Robert, is a City of
Memphis Fire Fighter/EMT.
Robert and his wife, Deana, have
a one-year-old daughter, Riley
Grace. Deana is a stay-at-home
mom. She left her job with
International Paper to be a full
time mom for Riley. Needless to
say, Grandma and Grandpa Neal
try to spend as much time as
possible with Riley too.
Sometime during the past 10
years, I seem to have become the
“Family Historian” (possibly
because I have more time). Up
until the vision decline, you
would find me (when able) at the
Tennessee Genealogical Library,
the Memphis/Shelby County
Libraries, roaming cemeteries,
or visiting relatives looking
for family information and
histories. Many of the family
legends that my parents shared
over the years began to make
sense.
During the search for facts,
I have met some fascinating
people. Lots of them have been
relatives or far off “cousins,”
but many have been fellow
researchers. There is a story
in the life of everyone.
Bill and I are enjoying
retirement with plenty of time
to spend with our family. We
have been members of Brunswick
Baptist Church since 1990 and
praise the Lord for our
Christian family too. We have
lived in the Northeast area of
Shelby County since 1986. We
moved away from the city, but
now the city is moving to us.
Life moves on!
October 24, 2007:
As the old saying goes "HOW TIME FLYs BY." Life has
certainly been a journey. Bill
and I have been married many
years. He retired from the
Memphis Fire Dept. in 2002 with
over 33 years of service. I
gave up my job with Kraft Foods
in 1992 due to health problems.
After Bill was tired of
retirement he went to work for
Northwest Airlines.
Our sons, Michael and Robert are both grown. Robert, his
wife, Deana and two children,
Riley and Dylan live close by in
the Brunswick Farms area. As
all grandparents could probably
say, grandchildren are a gift
from God. They bring a smiling
face and piece of sunshine with
them when we see them.
Riley is 5 years old and attends kindergarten at the ECS
Ridgeway Campus. She also is
learning to play the piano and
will give her own performance
for the family any time we will
listen. She is our little
princess, but also capable of
catching frogs, worms,
caterpillars and all God's
little critters she can find.
She loves gardening and just
being in "nature" as she calls
it.
Dylan is 2 now and our little man and loves all things that
run on wheels or fly in the
air. His Uncle Mike is his best
buddy (after his Daddy), because
Uncle Mike has large equipment
for his construction business.
Also one of Dylan's favorite
things is Uncle Mike's Harley
Davidson motorcycle.
Family is our focus these days which we praise the Lord for.
We have lived in this area since
1986 and have been members at
Brunswick Baptist Church since
then. Our church family is also
a large part of our world
especially during some trying
times when we've needed many
prayers.
It has been really great to attend some of the gatherings in
the past few months. I'm looking
forward to the reunion to get to
see many more.

After graduation, I attended

During my stay with the

In 1974, I was employed by TVA

lived in Chattanooga for six

and guess what! I was
transferred again to another
nuclear power plant located in
Athens, AL. I worked in Athens
for TVA until 1991 and was
retired by TVA. I continued to
work at the plant with a

In 1994, I was caught up in a

Recently I was employed by Shaw

kids.” Yes they are still kids!
The oldest has four to contend
with. Two are his own and they
are two-year-old twins. That
was a shock to his life style!
Our other son has a place of his
own, but he still hangs around
the house most of the time. The
oldest, Stephen, is 28 and David
is 26.

Since our last reunion, I
have retired from the Army
National Guard and I have
transferred from Alabama to
South Carolina as a
Construction Engineer with
the same construction
organization. I still
have my residence in
Savannah, Tn.
I will be attending the
reunion this year and look
forward to seeing everyone.

June 21, 2003:
Following
graduation, I went to Lambuth
College for one year before
transferring to Memphis State
where I graduated with a degree
in sociology. I worked briefly
as a social worker, mainly with
elderly clients.
In 1968 I married David
Grant. We moved to New Orleans
where our first son, Kevin, was
born. We moved back to Memphis
in 1970. Our daughter, Mindy,
was born in 1973. When Kevin
and Mindy were about high school
age, lo and behold—a mid-life
surprise—our son, Josh, was
born.
Kevin is now the pastor of
Christ Community Church in
Hernando, Mississippi. Mindy
has worked with pre-schoolers
for a number of years and is
currently looking for another
field. Josh is completing his
freshman year at Briarcrest.
I have not worked outside
the home since our marriage but
have kept busy with church
activities and Bible studies.
In 1990 our parents began to be
in frail health and could no
longer live alone. We decided
to add on to our home to take
care of them here. It was a
difficult decision, but we would
do it again and have no regrets.
We have no grandchildren yet
but look forward to it.
April 30, 2008:
David and I just celebrated
our 40th wedding
anniversary. We lived in
Whitehaven for seven years
then in 1977 we moved into
the home we're living in
now. Elvis died a week
later. (Apparently he took
our move pretty hard).
After praying for years,
we're finally getting
something we've wanted a
long time ...... a
daughter-in-law. Yes, our
38 year-old pastor son,
still at Christ Community
Church in Hernando, MS
proposed to his bride-to-be
last Sunday (April 27th).
She is a staff writer and
editor for Campus Crusade
for Christ magazine
Worldwide Challenge.
We're thrilled of course
and her parents seem to be
thrilled as well. The
wedding will probably be in
Colorado in September.
Our daughter Mindy still works at Christ Methodist in Adult
Ministries and Evangelism.
Our youngest son, Josh has
his own apartment now and is
a junior at the University
of Memphis.
Time has gone by so rapidly
and it just seems to be
going faster. Our years at
Kingsbury seem a lifetime
ago and yet like only
yesterday. It's
amazing and a bit shocking
to see how many class
members we've lost in
death. This will be a very
special reunion.
