The 45th Reunion

Feedback

Send us your feedback about this reunion.  We think everyone had a good time, but you might have some ideas on how we could make the next one better!

The reunion was great! I had so much fun. Talking with our classmates was my favorite part. Of course, the music brought back a lot of good memories. Dearing and I thoroughly enjoyed both evenings.
The website was a great idea also. Glenn, thank you for all the creative ways you kept us informed and entertained.  Reunion Committee, thank you for making this reunion so enjoyable for the Class of ’63 and our spouses!
~  Bobbie Craig Garner

Words don’t express how everything went for our reunion.  The committee did an OUTSTANDING JOB and went OVERBOARD in ALL that took place!  You made our 45th very special to all who attended.  It was a very special time for me to be a part of the gathering both on Friday evening and Saturday evening.  My wife Sally had the time of her life both evenings.  We don’t dance, but the music did bring back a lot of MEMORIES!
We are just getting back home to Bentonville, as we left Memphis on Sunday morning after the GRAND EVENTS, and went over to Brentwood, Tennessee to visit my wife’s brother, for a week.  We just got back into Arkansas on Sunday, June 15th.
It sure was good seeing all our classmates of 1963.  If you are ever over in Northwest Arkansas, let me know you are coming and drop in and visit for a day or two.

To everyone who made this such a fantastic time, THANK YOU (you know who you are).  Thanks to you Glenn for making it even more special with all your work on the website, the photos and all your hard work.  Thank you Donna and Tommy also for opening your home to all of us.  It has been great reconnecting to all of you after all these years.  I have not attended any of the reunions since the first few and I'm certainly happy I did not miss this one.
I was inspired watching all of you who were out on the dance floor.  Thanks to Nancy too for the beautiful song.  To all of you who missed the reunion, maybe you can come to some of the gatherings throughout the year.  It's a fun time to keep up with our Kingsbury friends.

The reunion was fantastic and I had a great time.  You did a wonderful job with the web site, pictures, music and your eager and energetic way of putting this all together.  I thought a lot of people were dancing...every time I glanced over, the floor seemed to be full of dancers.  People that I never saw dancing before were out there having a great time.  We managed to talk, socialize and reflect back on old times.  The sixty's music and era was an incredible time; I am glad I was a part of this and a graduate of Kingsbury 63.
The food was excellent for both nights.  Donna and Tommy's home was such a beautiful and elegant place to have the Friday socialization party...this was the best ever and I really thank them for letting us come there and all the work they did in having us.  It was really fun getting together and planning this reunion....I didn't do much but just attend the sessions, but it was nice to be in on this and have the camaraderie we had and see the reunion come together.  It is kind of a letdown now that it is over.  I will look forward to future reunions and our ladies socials.  Keep in touch and stay healthy and happy.

Keith and I thought the 45th reunion was wonderful.  We are sorry we could not make the Friday night party, but we enjoyed seeing and talking to everyone on Saturday night.  The music was great.  I enjoyed dancing to those good songs.  You did a super job as DJ and preparing the website.  I looked forward to reading it every day.  I'm glad you will be keeping the website.
When we got back home, we looked at the pictures several times (and enjoyed the music) and thought about all our classmates and how much fun it is to get together.  We thank you and the committee for all the hours of planning.  The reunion was a big hit!
I agree with the suggestion of a Power Point presentation of pictures that we all have of our Kingsbury days.  I will begin looking for pictures and send them.  Thanks so very much!
~   Martha Dee and Keith White

I thought everyone did a wonderful job on planning the reunion – the communications, e-mails, web, etc.  Thank you so much for all that you did to make our reunion a success.  It is always so much fun to see everyone.
~   Don McKee

I want to thank all the kids who came out and supported the class by attending the reunion this past weekend.  I thought it was great fun both nights.  Special thanks to Donna & Tommy Starnes for inviting everyone to their home for the Friday night party.  Thanks to everyone on the committee: Nancy, Allen, Donna, Kathy, Shirley, Paulette, Linda, Ruth, Kitty, Betty, Faylene, Brenda...  Hope I didn't leave anybody out.
And I really didn't mean to give the impression that I was disappointed about the lack of dancing.  I wasn't.  Disc jockeys think that if people aren't dancing, they aren't having a good time.  So when the dance floor is not packed--we get worried!  However, I know that everyone still had fun.
I say next time we set the DJ up at one end of the room or the other so there will be plenty of space between the music and those who want to talk and visit.  Then the DJ can serve as a Jukebox so that anybody can request a song and have it played without regard to whether people dance to it or not.
We've been getting a lot of good ideas on how to make the next reunion better.  Keep them coming.  Brenda's suggestion to set up a projector showing old pictures is a good one.  You'll all have to dig out those old pictures of yours in the attic and email or snail mail them to me to do that right!!
~   Glenn Miller

What can I say?? You did a great job and believe me, James and I would have been on the dance floor a lot more if his knee hadn't given out on him - of course I tried to tell him to keep it simple but you know how he likes to show off.  I really enjoyed visiting with everyone and like Betty said, there just wasn't enough time to talk with everyone.  I hope all the "girls" will make an effort to come to the "Kingsbury girls" meetings each month.  We might even have one or two and include the "guys".  Thanks to everyone who attended the reunion - you make all the work putting this together well worth the effort.
~   Nancy Frazier Graves
What a great job you guys did on the reunion!  I know you have put in a lot of your time and I really appreciate it.  All I hear all night long was how great this one was.  I will try to get the pics on the computer tomorrow.  I had a dental appt. today and I
am supposed to play golf tomorrow but I may cancel that one.  I printed some pics today at CVS on the Kodak machine.
~   Fran Palmertree Tankersley

Glenn, the website just keeps getting better and better.  I cannot imagine how many hours you have spent constructing this site.  THANK YOU
As for the “lack of dancing” I thought we did as well as ever!  I suppose our stamina is slowing down a bit!  I can assure you, we all had a fantastic time.  Probably in 5 years, some of us will be sitting the dances out a little more and it might be a good idea to concentrate more on playing the wonderful music.  Nothing brings back memories better than listening to the oldies.
Also, the pictures are great.  You worked so hard trying to get us posed just right!  What fun it was to come home (2 nights in a row) and get to relive it all by viewing the pictures and videos so quickly.  Thank you for all your hard work.
~   Kathy Phillips Argo

Glenn, I thought the reunion was wonderful.  Friday night was great and so casual.  We got to mix and mingle and visit with everyone.  Thanks to Tommy and Donna for hosting us.  You are super!!!
Saturday night was really nice as well.  The food was delicious and we had such a variety to choose from.  I agree that dancing to the old music was difficult.  Some could still hold up to the pace, but many never were fast dancers and even if they were could not handle an entire night of dancing.  I personally prefer softer music so we can talk and visit and slow dancing.  I LOVE listening to the old songs though since they bring back great memories.  SO I think we need both, but with less volume.
Another thought I had was that we have musical tables.  Periodically during the night we could change tables and have a chance to visit with more people.  We get to a table and tend to just stay put.  Also, if we did give out the reunion books on the previous night, those who had not read all the profiles on the website would have a chance to scan the booklet and know what everyone is doing before the final night.  That might be good for conversation.  Just a thought.  I did not see anyone having too much trouble finding things to talk about at this reunion though.
It was great to see everyone and pick up where we left off last time.  New friends are Silver, but the Old friends are GOLD!!
~   Shirley Holcomb Williams

Glenn, I just want you to know that everything was perfect Saturday night. The music was great and the people that wanted to dance did dance, and the people that wanted to visit could still visit because the music was not too loud.  Your idea for next time is probably a good one because we will be five years older then and probably less agile.  I appreciate you and all the people that made this happen. I know it was a lot of work, but it could not have been better.  Thanks again.
~   Pat Hogland Douglas

I enjoyed visiting with everyone both nights.  The music and food was very nice.  You all (the committee) did a great job putting it all together.  Thanks to Donna and Tommy for having us in their lovely home for the 1st night social, it was awesome.
I think a screen showing the old pictures flashing by would be the only thing I would like to see added to future reunions.  I missed that somewhat.  Other than that, the entire evening visiting with classmates and reminiscing about the past and hearing the present day stories of what is happening is to be cherished.  I look forward to seeing more reunions in the future and being a part of it.
God Bless You All for your future ventures, health and happiness.
~   Brenda Albea Ledbetter

Glenn, Thanks again for your tremendous part in our reunion.  I am sorry you were disappointed that more people didn't dance Saturday night.  I tried to warn you at one of the meetings that people were more interested in talking than dancing.  This is certainly not a reflection on your ability as a DJ.  We are just getting older and haven't seen each other in years.
I think your idea of a Live Jukebox was excellent.  Again please don't feel bad about people not dancing.  You did an excellent job of playing songs we all cherish, and the ones who wanted to dance had the opportunity to do so.  Thanks again for a job well done.
~   Allen Green

Hey Allen,
Thanks for your moral support!  It's not that I was really disappointed ... because I know from doing other class reunions that there are always some people who don't dance.  I'm just a perfectionist in a lot of ways, so I was worried that the loud music may have been a bad idea keeping some of us from having as good a time as possible.  But it was a learning experience for me, next time we'll know how to do it better!     (Glenn Miller)
Dear Reunion Committee,
You did a fantastic job.  The reunion was great.  I really enjoyed seeing everyone.  I especially appreciate all of the hard work that you did to pull all of us together.  I wasn’t with your class long, but I’m proud to say I am part of the 1963 Kingsbury Class.  I wish the very best to everyone.
~   Charlotte Bowen Campbell
Thanks very much for everyone's dedication and support to our class reunion!  I know there are several folks who gave their time and effort "above and beyond" to make the reunion a success, and I want to personally express my thanks and appreciation for all you've done for us.  The website is fantastic and, I believe, was the biggest factor in this being such an enjoyable, successful event.  And now, the posted pictures are icing on the cake.
The suggestions for the next reunion are very good.  I think they're very appropriate adjustments to fit the overall group's "personality".  Thanks again for everything!
~   Bob Kessler
The reunion was great!  I don't see how it could have been better - great music, dancing, delicious food and, most of all, reminiscing with friends.  It just came to an end before I was ready to say goodbye to everyone.  What a great group of classmates!  Everyone looks so young.  You'd think a group of "sixty something" guys and gals would look like senior citizens - NOT OURS!
Your suggestion for next time sounds okay to me, in regards to the music and dancing.  Not everyone wants to dance, so taking the focus off the dance floor would give those who don't care to dance a better chance to visit.  As long as there is some space designated for dancing, that could please everyone.
Special thanks to Donna (Cox) and Tommy Starnes for opening their home to all of us.  We had a wonderful time!
Looking forward to our 50th!  May God bless you all until we meet again.
~   Betty Thompson Brown
Bob Brown here - I'm not a member of the class of '63 but I wanted to tell as a spouse of Betty Brown, that I had a ball and was very inspired by the friendliness of everyone that I had the opportunity to shake hands with - a great group of folks and I was very privileged to be a part of all the fun.
If I could have had this much fun, I would have went to my 50th class reunion with Little Rock Central High class of 1957.
I don't think this group is too old to remember the big bands.  Can you find a CD or two so we can hear the Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey and some of those guys.  I love ballroom dancing.
Have you ever thought about a short skit of the Newlyweds game show (select maybe four couples - not identified prior to the party - pass out tickets to couples when they arrive and draw four numbers.  I think you would be a great MC for the show.  See how these mates think alike after several years of marriage.
Ask the girls to come up with some other ideas they are always more creative.
If other folks in the class have a talent let them demonstrate it for everyone. Bring Nancy back again - she did a great job.
Thanks again for your many hours of preparation and web maintenance.
~   Bob Brown

The main thing I missed was the table that was set up for our 40th reunion with all the memorabilia items and old photographs. I really enjoyed that.
About Saturday night, Cathey has been having a lot of problems with her knee and leg that kept her from dancing anything but slow dances, otherwise we both would have been up there making fools of ourselves, not just me. We still very much enjoyed the music.
